Jose Montaño Shoots 67, Finishes Runner Up at Hoosier Collegiate at Otter Creek

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Xavier men's golf team concluded the final round of the Hoosier Collegiate this afternoon in Columbus. Three Musketeers scored even par or better on the final day.
Jose Montaño fired a final round score of 67 (-5), which ties his career low score, and finished runner up. The sophomore has finished inside the top three in his last four starts. Montaño led the team and tournament with ten birdies.
Daniel Wetterich also finished in the top 10, shooting an even par final round which put him at sixth individually. The freshman played the par three's under par, averaging 2.75 strokes per hole and was second on the team with seven birdies.
Xavier, as a team, finished in third out of thirteen teams. The Musketeers shot a combined score of 281 (-7) on the final day, their lowest combined score to par this season for a round. The 36 hole combined score of 580 (+4) was also a season low score to par.
John Burger set a new career low 18 hole score with a final round 69 (-3). The graduate student finished tied for 13th, and played the par 4's under par, averaging 3.95 strokes per hole and was third on the team with six birdies.
David Long finished tied for tied for 36th after a final round 73 (+1). The junior played the par 5's under par, averaging 4.5 strokes per hole.
The Musketeers return to the course on Saturday, April 16th for The Rutherford in University Park, Pennsylvania.
