XU's senior catcher went 2-for-5 with a run scored and three RBI on Tuesday
MUNCIE, Ind. – Senior catcher Dan Rizzie drove in three runs, but Xavier baseball couldn't complete a late comeback in a 5-4 loss at Ball State on Tuesday at the Ball Diamond.
The Cardinals struck for five runs over the first three innings, but XU's bullpen held the home team off the scoreboard for five straight innings to close out the day. Xavier got within one in the fifth inning, but went down in order over the next two innings. The Musketeers had baserunners in each of their final two innings, but stranded one in the eighth and two in the ninth.
Xavier drops to 10-19 overall with the setback, while Ball State improves to 18-12.
