Xavier suffers its first BIG EAST loss of the season.
CINCINNATI – The women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker of a match to DePaul, 4-3, ending its nine-match win streak and undefeated BIG EAST play.
The match was tied at 3-3 when the No. 5 singles position was in play. Sophia Abelson dropped her first set, won her second to force a third where she would eventually fall to Jarrett Fisher.

"We played well enough to win the match today," said head coach Doug Matthews. "De Paul was just a little more solid. If we want to beat a team liked this, we cannot have extended stretches where we give games away. DePaul made us earn everything. We need to learn from this for tomorrow when we play a very good Marshall team."
The women are now 14-5 on the season, 4-1 in BIG EAST play, and 4-1 at home.
Xavier is back in action tomorrow at Marshall. First serve is set for 1 p.m. in Huntington, W. Va.
