Â
The Musketeers took the early lead, scoring midway through the first half for the first tally of the day.  After getting three early looks, Samantha Dewey broke through in the offensive column for the Musketeers, scoring her fifth goal of the season in the 28th minute to put Xavier up 1-0. Dewey's tally came after she knocked the ball into the bottom corner of the net off the assist from Jessica Miller.
The Musketeers took the 1-0 lead into the break after posting eight first half shot, including four on-frame. OU responded early in the second half, putting the game in a 1-1 tie for most of the second period before Xavier retook the lead with 15 minutes to play.

Goalkeeper Toni Bizzarro made the first start of her college career, making three saves in the first half to keep the Musketeers ahead 1-0 going into the half.
Rachel Piccus started in goal in the second half for the Musketeers, picking up her fourth win of the season.
Â
The backline of Carly Alfano, Ellie Eckerle and Courtney Kobashigawa played the full 90 minutes, only allowing three shots for the Bobcats in each half.
Â
"That was a great college soccer game today. Our starts haven't been as good as we would like the past three games, but today we certainly showed up from the whistle. I thought we were very good in possession and created multiple really good chances to score and were unfortunate to not finish those. We had a great response after they tied it up 1-1. We look forward to finishing up the non-conference on the road on Sunday."
Â
Xavier will now travel to IUPUI for the final non-conference match of the season. The Musketeers and the Jaguars face off on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1:00 p.m.
After IUPUI, Xavier begins the BIG EAST Conference slate, starting out on the road at DePaul on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 2:00 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network.  Following DePaul match, the Musketeers close out a five-game road swing at Providence on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m.
