01.19.17 | Track and Field
The two-day meet will be held at Indiana University on Jan. 20-21
CINCINNATI - Xavier indoor track and field continues its season on Jan. 20-21 at the Gladstein Invitational. The two-day meet is being hosted by Indiana University.
The Musketeers had three athletes qualify for the fast sections or 'invite elite' sections this weekend: Zachary Polk (200-meter dash), Meghan Vogel (one-mile run) and Madeline Britton (3,000-meter run).
Xavier most recently competed at the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 14 in Lexington, Ky., with Russell Platt's record-breaking performance highlighting the meet. The senior broke the school record in the high jump for the second time in as many meets.
START TIME: Friday, Jan. 20 - 2:45 p.m.
START TIME: Saturday, Jan. 21 - 10:15 a.m.
LOCATION: Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse

PARTICIPATING TEAMS
• Murray State, UAPB, Miami (Ohio), Indiana, Cincinnati, Indiana State, Dayton, Windsor, Arkansas State, Saint Louis, Ball State, Grand Valley State, Bradley, Bellarmine, Cardinal Stritch, St. Norbert, Butler, Southern Indiana, Mount Olive
Grayson Jenkins in the 3,000-meter run - "I think we'll see a great race out of Grayson. He's had some solid training gains since last year as a freshman and I know he's got some big goals for this year in the 3000-meter run."
Grant Parrelli in the one-mile run - "Grant will be making his track debut after redshirting last season. He will be racing the mile and depending on how the next few weeks go, this could be his primary event going into the championship part of the season. He looks as fit or more fit then he was sophomore year when he broke our school records in the 800-meter and 1,000-meter runs."
Nolan Daniels, Jordan Shepherd and Grant Stapleton - "We also have three guys running in the 800-meter run that all have a great shot at lowering our school record in the event and hitting personal best marks."
Zachary Polk, Russell Platt and Chris Taylor - "We have three of our top sprinters all in the 60-meter dash with the hopes of at least one making it back for finals later in the day on Friday. "
Brooke Hines and Meghan Vogel - "In addition to Meghan Vogel making the fast section of the mile, Brooke Hines will be back in the mile this week after running it last week at UK as her first race on US soil. She was very much in control of her race last week down to the last 200 meters, so I know she can drop a lot of time this week."
Sydney Larkin in the 400-meter run - "This will be her one and only shot at racing on a banked track before we get to the indoor BIG EAST Championship. For her event, it's key to know how to run the banked turns so I'm happy that we get to take advantage of this opportunity."
Kara Robinson in the hurdles - "Kara will be trying to bounce back after an average race last weekend. There are a few little things that Coach Fuca has been working on with Kara that she'll need to clean up this week. I'm confident that she'll rise to the occasion and have a better race."
Madeline Britton, Gina Genco and Allison Sinning - "All three are all slated to race the 5,000-meter run on Friday. If we do end up racing all three, my goal is to have three of the top six places in the field of 14."
Xavier returns to action at the Thundering Herd Invitational on Jan. 27-28 in Huntington, W.V.
