Blackwell Leads Five Xavier Players in Double Figures, Musketeers Fall at Seton Hall

Maddison Blackwell posted her seventh career double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Maddison Blackwell was one of five Xavier players in double figures on Friday night as the Musketeers dropped a 71-62 game at Seton Hall.

The Musketeers (10-11, 2-8 BIG EAST) have now dropped six straight games. The Pirates moved to 10-11, 3-7 BIG EAST) with the win. Xavier is now 1-7 all-time versus Seton Hall.

• Maddison Blackwell led Xavier with 14 points and 10 rebounds as the senior forward posted her seventh career double-double and her third of the season. She was 6-for-11 from the floor.

• Xavier had five players in double figures: Maddison Blackwell (14), Kindell Fincher (14), Imani Partlow (10), Marquia Turner (10) and Raeshaun Gaffney (10). It marked the first time Xavier has had five players in double figures since Nov. 17, 2014 vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

• Marquia Turner scored all of her points in the second half on 4-for-8 shooting. She added a team-high four assists to go along with two rebounds.

• Xavier held a 40-33 advantage on the glass, its first time outrebounding an opponent since Dec. 30 vs Creighton. Raeshaun Gaffney added seven rebounds and Imani Partlow chipped in six.

• The Musketeers posted a 16-9 advantage in second-chance points, coming off of 14 offensive rebounds.

• The opening quarter had two ties and one lead change. Seton Hall led by as many as seven, 13-6, at the 3:27 mark before the Musketeers got with two by using an 8-3 run. LeTecia Smith hit a layup as time expired to give the Pirates an 18-14 lead after one quarter of action.

• Xavier got within three on three occasions in the final quarter before the Pirates pulled away down the stretch. Seton Hall outscored Xavier, 11-5, over the final five minutes of action.
