Xavier Sets Another School Record at Thundering Herd Invitational
01.28.17 | Track and Field
Kara Robinson breaks her previous school record in the 60-meter hurdles
HUNTINGTON, W.V. -Â Xavier indoor track and field wrapped up action at the Thundering Herd Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28. The two-day meet was hosted by Marshall University.
All told, the Musketeers set 17 PR's between the men's and women's teams. Xavier has set a school record in at least one event in every indoor meet this season.
Â
"Overall, this meet was very successful. The men's team performed well across the board and continued to build off the early season success. We had five of our guys set PRs and five top-10 finishes. After today, our men's short sprinters are ranked 1-2-3 in the BIG EAST conference, so we expect that group to continue to do great things."
"On the distance side, Grant Parrelli took 6th in the 800-meter run and with a well executed race can continue to shed lots of time."
"Our women's team responded really well to the last few weeks of training and demonstrated that they have not only the talent but the depth that we've expected to see from them as well. There were 10 PRs on the women's side, with one of the most exciting being Kara Robinson in the hurdles. We've been working on her rhythm and cadence a lot lately and she finally was able to have everything click in a race. She broke her own school record with a time of 8.84 and took 7th place in the final."
"On the distance side, our 3K girls showed their grit and toughness as three girls finish in the top-10 of the meet. Overall, we had five top-10 finishes on the women's side as well. We are looking forward to going to Akron next week and as we begin to taper this next few weeks we should start seeing even more great performances!"
