Xavier captured both meetings with the Blue Demons this season

CHICAGO – Juniors Laura Grossman and Meredith Klare led the Xavier volleyball team to a three-set (25-18, 25-23, 25-22) win at DePaul on Saturday night.

Xavier moved to 8-17 (3-8 BIG EAST) on the year, while the Blue Demons dropped to 8-15 (2-9 BIG EAST).

NOTABLES

• Junior Laura Grossman posted a match-high 11 kills to go along with eight digs, two aces and two blocks. The outside hitter has posted 10 or more kills in a match six times this season.

• Junior Meredith Klare recorded a match-high 15 digs. The libero added three assists.

• Junior Morgan Finn and freshman Maya Krause both posted eight kills, while Audrey Adams collected seven. Adams added two blocks and a team-high .545 hitting percentage.

• Xavier posted a 5-4 advantage in aces. Both teams had seven total team blocks.

• Seniors Alexis Newsome and Lauren Frilling combined to post seven kills and six blocks.

• Xavier moved to 17-5 all-time against the Blue Demons. The Musketeers have now won 12 of the last 13 meetings between the two schools.

• Senior Mackenzi Humm led the team in assists (19), while adding three digs and an ace. McKena Estes recorded 18 assists and six digs.

• Xavier returns to action on Friday, Oct. 27 against Georgetown. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. from Cintas Center.
