Musketeers Open Homestand with 3-0 Win Over Georgetown

Three players had seven or more kills in the win
CINCINNATI – Xavier volleyball opened its homestand with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-21) win over Georgetown on Friday night at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers improved to 9-17 (4-8 BIG EAST), while the Hoyas dropped to 7-16 (1-10 BIG EAST).
• Senior Lauren Frilling paced the Musketeers with eight kills. The middle blocker added a .462 hitting percentage on the night.
• Senior Alexis Newsome and junior Laura Grossman both added seven kills. Newsome added two blocks and a .500 hitting percentage.
• Freshman Maya Krause chipped in six kills, while junior Morgan Finn added five.
• Senior Mackenzi Humm led the team in assists with 17, while junior McKena Estes posted 15. Estes added eight digs.
• The Musketeers recorded eight aces, their second most aces in a match this season. Senior Mackenzi Humm and junior McKena Estes led Xavier with two each.
• Junior Meredith Klare posted a match-high 13 digs. She now ranks fifth all-time at Xavier in digs.
• Xavier moved to 11-0 in the all-time series against Georgetown.
• Xavier returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 against Villanova. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. from Cintas Center.
