Frilling, Grossman Lead Musketeers to Four-Set Win Over Villanova

Xavier has now won three straight matches
CINCINNATI – Lauren Frilling and Laura Grossman combined for 23 kills on Saturday night as the Xavier volleyball team picked up a four-set (23-25, 25-12, 25-22, 25-18) win over Villanova.
The Musketeers have now won three straight matches, moving to 10-17 (5-8 BIG EAST) on the year. The Wildcats dropped to 14-9 (7-5 BIG EAST).
• Laura Grossman posted her first career double-double as the junior had a match-high 12 kills to go along with a career-high 15 digs. She added three blocks and a .444 hitting percentage.
• Lauren Frilling hit .476 with 11 kills on the night. The senior middle blocker added four digs and one ace.
• Xavier had 10 more total team blocks (11-1) than the Wildcats, paced by Lauren Frilling and Alexis Newsome who both had five blocks. Xavier now has 10 or more blocks in a match 12 times this season.
• Meredith Klare posted a match-high 16 digs, moving her career total to 1,410. She now ranks fourth all-time at Xavier in career digs.
• Mackenzi Humm recorded her fourth double-double of the season as the senior setter had 25 assists and 10 digs. McKena Estes added 22 assists and 11 digs, her second double-double of the year.
• Samantha Foti was one of five Xavier players with double-figure digs as the senior finished the night with 14. She added a team-high two aces.
• Morgan Finn and Alexis Newsome both collected eight kills, while Audrey Adams posted seven.
• The match featured 24 ties and nine lead changes. Xavier moved to 7-4 in the all-time series against Villanova.
• Xavier returns to action on Friday, Nov. 3 at Butler. First serve is set for 6 p.m. with the match being aired on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
