RACE SCHEDULE
11:15 a.m. - Women's 6K Race
• Xavier most recently competed at the BIG EAST Championships on Oct. 28 in Kenosha, Wis. The Musketeers placed fifth at the championships.
• Senior Madeline Britton placed eighth at the BIG EAST Championships, the highest finish for a Musketeer since joining the BIG EAST in 2013. The Bay Village, Ohio, native also earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors, the first Musketeer to earn the honors in cross country during BIG EAST action. Britton earned all-conference honors in cross country for the second time in her career as she picked up the accolades at the 2015 championships (18th place).
• Jenna Clayworth placed 23rd at the BIG EAST Championships, the second-best performance for a Xavier freshman since joining the BIG EAST.
• The women's team was ranked 14th in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Great Lakes Region as announced by the national organization on Oct. 30. The Musketeers have been ranked as high as 10th on two occasions this season.
• Xavier placed 17th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional last season. The Musketeers have placed as high as 10th at the NCAA Regional twice, most recently in 2015.
"The women's team has looked great since coming off our performance at BIG EAST. I think BIG EAST left them unsatisfied and wanting more and it's shown in their workout sessions. They've shown more desire since BIG EAST and I believe they've become closer as a group. This is the type of team that responds well to adversity so I'm excited to see how they respond on Friday."
"On our best day, I know we're a top-10 team, but the general goal will be to improve on our finish from last year and race to our potential. Individually, I think Maddie Britton has a great shot at making the NCAA finals. That's something that we've been planning for and rehearsing over the past two years. Now she has a legit shot to go for it."
• The NCAA Championships are schedule for Saturday, Nov. 18 in Louisville, Ky.
