Musketeers drop 74-48 contest against the Tigers on Monday night
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Xavier women's basketball dropped a 74-48 contest to No. 16 Missouri on Monday night in the final game of the West Palm Beach Invitational.
Xavier moved to 6-4 on the year, while the Tigers improved to 11-1.
• The nationally ranked Tigers led from start to finish. Mizzou led by 12 twice in the second quarter behind a .636 field-goal percentage (7-for-11), taking a 39-27 advantage into the locker room.
• Freshman Deja Ross paced Xavier with seven points at the break. Anniina Äijänen added five points and a team-high four rebounds. Mizzou held a 20-14 advantage on the glass.
• Mizzou led by as many as 31 (72-41) at the 3:31 mark in the fourth quarter before posting the 74-48 victory, its 10th consecutive win.
• Deja Ross was the lone Xavier player in double figures with a season-high 13 points. The freshman forward added six rebounds and one assist.
• Anniina Äijänen scored five points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. The Tigers held a 48-29 advantage on the glass.
• Na'Teshia Owens and Aaliyah Dunham both added seven points, while Jada Byrd and Kindell Fincher chipped in five points.
• Xavier held a 26-18 advantage in bench points. Missouri scored 16 points off of turnovers, while the Musketeers had 10.
• Xavier was limited to a season-low 48 points and season-low .279 field-goal percentage.
• Xavier moved to 2-1 in the all-time series with the Tigers.
• Xavier returns to action on Friday, Dec. 22 against Florida A&M. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. from Cintas Center.
