Four Musketeers hit double figures

CINCINNATI- After a nail biting last two minutes of regulation, Xavier tops Seton Hall 72-70, to improve to 6-3 in conference play, on Wednesday at Cintas Center. Xavier finished with four Musketeers scoring in double digits, including Trevon Bluiett's 24 points, his fourth consecutive game scoring 20 plus, and his 12^th 20-point game of the season. The Musketeers hold a record of 10-1 this season when at least four players score in double figures.

FIRST HALF:

After a scoreless minute and twenty seconds, the Musketeers opened going on a 6-0 leaving the Pirates scoreless until after the first media timeout.

Xavier outscored Seton Hall 22-14 on points in the paint and 7-6 on second chance opportunities in the first half.

The Musketeers led by no more than eight throughout the first 20 minutes of play, however trailed at the break 28-31.

Bluiett led the Musketeers with eight first half points.

SECOND HALF:

At the 11-minute mark, Xavier went on a 16-6 run fueled by Kaiser Gates' eight points. Gates shot 75 percent from downtown. He finished with 13 points, 11 of those points coming in the second half run.

The Pirates responded by going on a 9-3 run.

J.P. Macura posted 10 points, scoring in double figures in 12 of the last 13 games. He also tied his career high in rebounds with seven.

Sean O'Mara finished the night with 11 points and five rebounds, including when Goodin found O'Mara with the behind the back-bounce pass for the dunk bring the score within one with 10:12 remaining in regulation.

Bluiett finished the game shooting 83 percent from the line and 50 percent from behind the arc.

NOTABLE

In his second career start, Goodin added eight points, seven steals and two monster blocks for the Musketeers.

The Musketeers out-rebounded the Pirates 40-36 and 14-10 on points off turnovers.

Xavier has won 17 of its last 18 games at Cintas Center as well as going 10-1 in BIG EAST play.
