Xavier Falls to Marquette on Sunday Afternoon

Maddison Blackwell scored 20 points, her fourth career game with 20 or more points
CINCINNATIÂ - Marquette handed Xavier women's basketball an 86-71 loss on Sunday afternoon. The Musketeers moved to 11-14 (3-11 BIG EAST), while the Golden Eagles improved to 19-7 (10-5 BIG EAST).

The Golden Eagles and Musketeers went back and forth for most of the game as it featured 12 ties and 12 lead changes. The Golden Eagles pulled away in the second half behind a third quarter that saw Marquette outscore Xavier, 26-13.

• Maddison Blackwell led the Musketeers with a season-high 20 points on 9-for-18 shooting. It was her fourth career game with 20 or more points.
• Marquia Turner led the team in rebounding with a career-high eight rebounds. Imani Partlow added seven rebounds.
• Raeshaun Gaffney scored 11 points, while Kindell Fincher and Imani Partlow both chipped in 10.Â
• Xavier had 19 points off the bench and 12 second chance points. Both squads scored 14 points off of turnovers.
