Lowther, Musketeers Take Series Opener at Ohio State, 3-2, in 13 Innings

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Junior Zac Lowther threw a career-high 11 strikeouts on Saturday evening as Xavier baseball outlasted Ohio State, 3-2, in 13 innings. The Musketeers moved to 8-10, while the Buckeyes dropped to 8-9.
A two-out, bases loaded walk by the Buckeye pitching staff in the 13th inning doomed Ohio State. Xavier took advantage of the miscue and sealed the win in the bottom of the frame.

• Xavier posted six more hits (10-4) than Ohio State and left eight more runners on base (15-7). Both teams committed one error in the game.Â
• Conor Grammes went 3-for-5 at the plate with a run to pace the Musketeers. Mitch Gallagher (2-for-6, R), Nate Soria (2-for-6, R) and Will LaRue (2-for-5, R) all added two hits for Xavier.Â
