Women's Tennis Blanks Dayton to Close Out Home Schedule

CINCINNATI - The Xavier Musketeer women's tennis team blanked in-state rival Dayton 5-0 in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at the Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility. This was the final home match for senior Sydney Liggins and Cristina Di Lorenzo, who were honored after the match with Senior Day presentations.

Xavier won the completed singles matches with Liggins at No. 1, 6-1, 6-0, sophomore Sophia Abelson at No. 4, 6-2, 6-2, freshman Vanina Iordanova at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0, and freshman Lauren Fitz-Randolph at No. 6, 6-3, 6-0. Di Lorenzo and freshman Rachael Reichenbach were leading their matches at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, when played was halted.

The Musketeers captured the doubles point with Di Lorenzo and junior Lauren Ghidotti winning at No. 1, 6-2, and sophomores Zoe Manion and Sophia Abelson combining to win at No. 3, 6-1.

Xavier, 3-1 in BIG EAST Conference play, closes out the season with a league match at Butler on Saturday. Next week the Musketeers will try to defend their BIG EAST Championship in Cayce, S.C.
