Men's Tennis Defeats BIG EAST Foe Marquette, 4-3

CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's tennis team defeated BIG EAST foe Marquette, 4-3, on Saturday. The Musketeers are now 2-0 in BIG EAST action.

The Musketeers won four singles matches and one doubles match in the win over the Golden Eagles. Matt Bishop won the decisive match at No. 1 singles 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4).

Jack Dykema won at No. 3 singles, Trent Smith at No. 4 and Gabriel Araujo at No. 5. In doubles play, Jeremy Schneider and Connor LaFavre won their No. 2 match, 6-4, but XU lost the double point 2-1.

The Musketeers will host BIG EAST foe DePaul on Sunday, April 10 at 10 a.m. at the Jim and Mary Brockhoff Family Tennis Facility.

5: Gabriel Araujo (XU) defeated Kristiyan Trukov (MU) 7-6(5), 1-6, 6-0
6: Brett Myers (MU) defeated Connor LaFavre (XU) 6-3, 7-5

Doubles:

1: Alvararo Verdu and Nick Dykema (MU) defeated Matt Bishop and Gabriel Araujo (XU) 6-4
2: Jeremy Schneider and Connor LaFavre (XU) defeated Kristiyan Trukov and Greg Anderson(MU) 6-4
