
Women's Soccer Hosts Ball State in First Game of Doubleheader on Friday

CINCINNATI – Xavier women's soccer returns home on Friday to open a four-game home stand, hosting Ball State at 4:30 p.m. The game is the first of a double header with Xavier men's soccer, which will host Loyola Chicago at 7:30 p.m.

- The Cardinals are 1-1 after opening weekend, picking up the 2-0 win over Fort Wayne in the season opener and falling, 4-0, to No. 18 Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon.
- Sam Kambol and Evie Stepaniak each tallied in the match against For Wayne. Lauren Roll, Amanda Shaw and Alessandra Fistrovich each picked up an assist.
- Alyssa Heintschel played 82 minutes against Fort Wayne, collecting three saves and earning the win in the shutout. Tristin Stuteville played the full 90 minute in-goal against Notre Dame, collecting nine saves and allowing four goals against.
- Ball State finished 2016 14-3-3 overall and 9-1-1 in MAC play after falling to Northern Illinois on PKs in MAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
- Last season in Muncie, Xavier held the Cardinals scoreless for over 80 minutes before BSU took a 1-0 lead. Xavier responded with a goal from Tori Doss in the 83rd minute to the tie the score, 1-1. The draw remained through double-overtime.

- Xavier women's soccer fell, 3-1, to No. 12 Duke on Sunday afternoon, moving the Musketeers to 1-1 on the season.
- Xavier struck first, after Maddie Tierney passed ahead to Tori Doss on the breakaway. Doss beat the Duke defense down the field, getting behind the Duke goalkeeper for a look at an open net to put Xavier up 1-0.
- Duke responded quickly to set the game in a 1-1 draw for the remainder of the first half. Duke retook the lead on a penalty kick nearly 20 minutes in the second half and added an insurance goal in the closing seconds of the match.
- Toni Bizzarro collected a career-high 10 saves to keep the Musketeers within striking distance. The total tops her previous career high of five against Providence last season.
- Carrie Lewis played the full 90 minutes at midfield. Carly Alfano and Andie Kennard each played over 85 minutes as part of the Xavier backline.

- Xavier men's and women's soccer season tickets are now on sale. Season ticket buyers will receive a limited edition Xavier soccer scarf with their purchase, marking the sixth year of the scarf program.
- Season tickets are just $25 each and include the limited edition scarf. Season ticket buyers will receive tickets that will provide admission to both men's and women's soccer regular season matches held at the Xavier Soccer Complex.
- Women's soccer will host a number of local opponents including Northern Kentucky and Dayton in addition to four BIG EAST foes as part of an 11-match home schedule.
- Soccer season tickets can be purchased online now. They can also be purchased by returning the order form or calling the Xavier Athletics Ticket office at 513-745-3411 x. 7. Season ticket buyers will be able to pick up their limited edition scarf at all August home matches, but should remember to bring their tickets to all matches for admission.
