Women’s Basketball Drops BIG EAST Contest with Seton Hall on Wednesday Night

Xavier falls, 62-51, at Cintas Center
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's basketball dropped a 62-51 BIG EAST contest with Seton Hall on Wednesday night at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers moved to 8-8 (1-4 BIG EAST), while the Pirates improved to 10-7 (2-4 BIG EAST). Xavier has now lost four straight games.
• Xavier hit three straight three pointers to open the game, including two from Deja Ross, to take an early 9-6 advantage. Seton Hall responded with a 13-5 run to take a 19-14 lead after one quarter of play.
• The Pirates led by as many as 11 (31-20) with 3:24 left in half before the Musketeers closed the stanza on a 10-2 run to make the score 33-30 at the break. Xavier went 2-for-2 from the floor and 6-for-6 from the foul line during the run.
• Deja Ross led all scorers at the break with 11 points on 3-for-3 shooting. Seton Hall held a 14-12 advantage on the glass with Anniina Äijänen pacing the Musketeers with four rebounds. Xavier was also 10-for-11 from the foul line in the first half.
• Xavier outscored Seton Hall, 10-7, to open the second half and tie the game for the second time. The Pirates responded by using a 7-2 run to take a 47-42 lead at the end of the third quarter.
• The Musketeers got within four (51-47) with 7:18 left in regulation on an Anniina Äijänen three pointer, but the Pirates closed the game on an 11-4 run to seal the win.
• Deja Ross paced the Musketeers with 14 points on 4-for-4 shooting, hitting all of her shots from three-point range. The freshman forward was also 2-for-2 from the foul line, while adding four rebounds and two steals.
• Imani Partlow added 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting. The junior forward also pulled down four rebounds.
• Anniina Äijänen finished with eight points, four assists and a team-high seven rebounds. The Musketeers won the battle on the glass, 32-29.
• Xavier committed a season-high 25 turnovers as the Pirates turned the miscues into 22 points. The Musketeers held a 23-17 advantage in bench points.
• Xavier returns to action at DePaul on Friday, Jan. 12. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. ET with the game being aired on the BIG EAST Digital Network and regionally on NBC Sports Chicago.
