Musketeers Drop Road Contest at DePaul on Friday Night

Kindell Fincher led the Musketeers with 10 points; Xavier falls, 79-48
CHICAGO – Xavier women's basketball opened its BIG EAST road swing with a 79-48 loss at DePaul on Friday night at Wintrust Arena.
The Musketeers moved to 8-9 (1-5 BIG EAST), while the Blue Demons improved to 13-5 (5-1 BIG EAST).
• DePaul scored five unanswered points to open the game and led by as 15 points (34-19) with 1:09 left in the first half. Xavier used a 5-0 run capped by a pair of Jada Byrd free throws to end the half, making the score 34-24.
• Kindell Fincher led Xavier with 10 points in the first half, while Jada Byrd had six points and a team-high four rebounds. Both teams had 19 rebounds at the break.
• An Imani Partlow layup to open the second half got the Musketeers with eight, but DePaul outscored the Musketeers, 27-9, to end the third quarter. DePaul led, 61-35, at the end of the frame.
• DePaul maintained its double-figure lead for the remainder of the contest, outscoring the Musketeers 18-13 in the final quarter to seal the win.
• Kindell Fincher led the Musketeers with 10 points, her third game of the year in double figures. The junior guard added five rebounds.
• Aaliyah Dunham, Jada Byrd and Princess Stewart all added seven points. Dunhman also dished out a game-high six assists. Byrd and Anniina Äijänen both chipped in five rebounds.
• A'riana Gray led the team in rebounds with six. DePaul held a 44-34 advantage on the glass.
• Xavier returns to action at Marquette on Sunday, Jan. 14. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. ET from the Al McGuire Center.
