"Overall this was a better meet for us compared to last weekend at Kentucky. We have 20 athletes on the team that have the flu so we still had to hold out almost half of our travel squad for this weekend but those that did compete ran well for this time of year."
Â
"In the women's 3000 all three of our girls ran well. Maddie led the race wire to wire and freshman Jenna Clayworth showed a lot of confidence hanging on to the lead group down to the last 400. In the women's 5000, Jennie Prial ran a near perfect race which led to a big breakthrough for her. She showed a lot of maturity early in the race by not going out too fast, she worked up through the pack really well in the middle half and closed strong over the final mile. Her 54 second personal best was really exciting to watch and I'm looking forward to some more big drops in time for her in this event over the course of her freshman year."
"On the men's side, Jack Hautz ran an impressive race in the 5000. He's been sick for about a week and we made a game-time decision to race him on Friday night and it paid off. He latched on to the back of a solid group of other guys that helped pull him through to a personal best. He showed a lot of heart fighting through a race that on paper was too fast for him to be in. Once he's healthy Jack should be under the 15min barrier. Grayson Jenkins also had a good weekend. He ran close to a PR in the 3000 and then doubled back well in the mile just a few hours later on Friday night. He's really fit right now and I'm looking forward to the next few weeks when he can get in a fast heat and go for a time that will put him in the top 10 within the Big East. In the men's 60 both Taylor and Polk had solid performances. I know they're not satisfied with where they're at but they have plenty of time to make the small corrections needed to get back up to the top of the Big East leader board."
