J.P. Macura Named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week

Senior guard is in the top 25 of Xavier's all-time career scorers

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's basketball senior guard J.P. Macura has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week. Macura averaged 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in Xavier wins over St. John's on Jan. 17 and at Seton Hall on Jan. 20.

Macura shot 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the field, including 60 percent (6-of-10) from 3-point territory, for the two games. Macura scored a season-high 27 points and came up with numerous big plays at both ends of the court in the win at Seton Hall. His 27-point effort was just one point shy of his career high.

Macura, who is second on the team and 20^th in the BIG EAST in scoring at 13.4 ppg., is 24th on XU's all-time scoring list with 1,321 career points.
