• The Xavier women's cross country team has been ranked four times this season in the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Regional Poll. The Musketeers were most recently ranked 11th on Sept. 24.
• Xavier is competing in the Bradley Pink Classic for the third straight year. Last season, the women placed seventh out of 31 teams, while the men took 23rd (out of 27 teams). The women's race had 210 participants and the men's race had 181 runners.
• Madeline Britton paced the Musketeers with a ninth place finish last season, posting a time of 21:19.70. Garrett Knapik led the men's team with a 90th-place finish in a time of 26:24.90.
• The Xavier women most recently competed at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Sept. 29. The Musketeers placed 12th out of 41 teams.
• Anna Kostarellis led the women's team, placing 22nd in the 6K race in a time of 21:14 - the eighth fastest time in program history. She was followed by Jenna Clayworth in 32nd place (21:35).
• The Xavier men most recently competed at the Louisville Classic on Sept. 29. The Musketeers placed 21st out of 29 teams in the 8K race.
• Thomas Gardiner led the men's team, placing 39th in a time of 24:48.30 - the eighth fastest time in program history. He was followed by Brady Harless who placed 71st in a time of 25:16.00 - the 10th fastest time in program history.
"I think our women's team will match up well against the top five teams that will be racing. Although it will be nice to see how we stack up against the other BIG EAST teams, I'm looking forward to racing some teams from outside the region. One in particular is Illinois who's ranked seventh in the Midwest Region. At the Commodore Classic, we had Illinois beat through four runners but they beat us in the end off their fifth runner. Individually, I'm excited to see how our top two girls respond to a few of the All-Americans that will be in the race."
"The focus on Friday for the men will be putting together a complete race as a team. This is one of the most talented men's teams that I've coached but we need to put it together as a team on race day. It's our last chance before BIG EAST to make some corrections and also see how we line up with the other four BIG EAST teams."
• Xavier returns to action at the BIG EAST Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27. The meet is being held at the Northview Church XC Course in Carmel, Ind.
