Musketeers participated in Light The Night Walk on Thursday evening
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's soccer participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Light The Night Walk on Thursday evening, raising over $4000 in the fight against cancer.
Light The Night raises funds in support of LLS which works to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Light The Night Walk brings light to the darkness of cancer by funding lifesaving research and support for people battling cancer. Family, friends and co-workers gather together to celebrate, honor or remember those touched by cancer. These efforts culminate in inspirational, memorable evening experiences filled with music, fireworks and empowering ceremonies honoring survivors and remembering those who were lost.
Xavier's team consisted of student-athletes, coaches and support staff. Xavier was also joined by Amy Carr, formerly Reinshagen, a Xavier women's soccer alum and cancer survivor. Xavier Women's Soccer raised $4,390 as a team, ranking in the top 20 of over 100 teams of friends and family at the Cincinnati event. In total, the event raised over $800,000 for LLS.
In addition to fundraising, Xavier Women's Soccer hosted an LLS Awareness Night during the Musketeers' match against Butler on Thursday, Oct. 4. During the match, Gift of Life hosted a bone marrow registry to help find a match for those fighting blood cancer.
