Adams, Musketeers Upend Friars in Four Sets

The sophomore middle blocker matched her career high in kills with 16
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Audrey Adams matched her career-high in kills (16) on Saturday afternoon, leading the Xavier volleyball team to a four-set win (25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23) at Providence. The Musketeers swept the series against the Friars this season, moving to 10-1 all-time against Providence.
The Musketeers moved to 7-15 (5-6 BIG EAST), while the Friars dropped to 7-14 (1-9 BIG EAST).
• Sophomore Audrey Adams led the Musketeers with 16 kills and a .444 hitting percentage. The middle blocker added six blocks (four assist, two solo). Adams finished the week averaging a team-best 2.67 kills per set, while adding a .400 hitting percentage and 10 blocks.
• Sophomore Moriah Hopkins added 11 kills, while seniors Laura Grossman and Morgan Finn combined for 15. Freshman Norah Painter chipped in five kills.
• Sophomore Nadia Dieudonne had 23 assists, nine digs and three aces. Senior McKena Estes also had 23 assists to go along with three digs.
• Senior Meredith Klare posted a team-high 22 digs. The libero finished the week with a team-high 51 digs, averaging 5.67 digs per set. Senior Laura Grossman and freshman Ryan Shannon both added nine digs against the Friars.
• Freshman Jayda Carlton collected seven blocks (four solo, three assist). The middle blocker finished the week with a team-high 15 blocks, averaging 1.67 blocks per set.
• Xavier had eight more total team blocks (14-6) than Providence, while the Friars had four more aces (8-4). The Musketeers have posted 10 or more total team blocks in six straight matches.
• Xavier returns to action on Friday, Oct. 26 against Seton Hall at 7 p.m. The match is the first of five straight contests at Cintas Center.
