Women's Soccer Makes First Appearance in USC Regional Top 10

Musketeers ranked No. 10 in the East after an undefeated week
CINCINNATI - After an undefeated week, Xavier women's soccer (8-6-1; 2-2-1 BIG EAST)Â makes its first appearance in the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) Regional Top 10 rankings, coming in at No. 10 in the East Region.Â
On Thursday, Xavier played Butler, ranked No. 3 in the East Region, to a 0-0 draw through double overtime, making the Musketeers the only BIG EAST team to have shut-out the Bulldogs so far this season.
Xavier then picked up the program's first win over DePaul on Sunday, scoring twice early in the second half before the Blue Demons scored a pair to force overtime. A penalty kick from Samantha Dewey in the fourth minute of the second overtime period sealed the win 3-2 win for the Musketeers.
The win over DePaul was the Musketeers' eighth of the season, matching last season's win total with four regular season matches remaining. At 2-2-1 in conference play, Xavier currently stands in a tie for fourth place in the BIG EAST standings.Â
The East rankings features five BIG EAST schools, including undefeated Georgetown at No.1. The Hoyas are also ranked No. 4 nationally, as well as No. 3 Butler, No. 5 Providence and No. 9 Villanova.
Xavier returns to action on Sunday when the Musketeers host Marquette at 1:00 p.m.
