SENIOR DAY | Musketeers Take on No. 18 Marquette on Sunday Afternoon

CINCINNATI - Xavier volleyball plays host to No. 18 Marquette on Senior Day on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 12:30 p.m. The Musketeers will honor its five-member senior class prior to the start of the match.
The Musketeers enter the match with a 10-16 (8-7 BIG EAST) record, while the Golden Eagles are 23-5 (13-2 BIG EAST). Xavier is tied with Villanova for fourth in the BIG EAST standings. The top four teams in the final regular-season standings advance to the conference tournament.

NOTABLES
• Marquette was picked to win the conference in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Golden Eagles posted a 22-10 (15-3 BIG EAST) record last season.
• Marquette has won 13 of its last 14 matches and is currently on a four-match win streak. The Golden Eagles defeated Butler in three sets (25-19, 25-15, 25-21) on Friday night.
• Sophomores Hope Werch and Martha Konovodoff earned BIG EAST honors this week with Werch tabbed as Offensive Player of the Week and Konovodoff earning her third Defensive Player of the Week award. Werch averaged 3.43 kills, while hitting at a .347 clip and served eight aces against Villanova, which is a BIG EAST season-high. Konovodoff continued her stellar defensive work, collecting 5.43 digs per set.
• Xavier trails the all-time series, 13-9, and is 2-3 in its last five meetings with the Golden Eagles. The Musketeers have lost three straight in the series.
• Xavier volleyball dropped a three set match (19-25, 14-25, 20-25) at No. 19 Marquette on Oct. 3. Senior Laura Grossman led the team in kills with nine. The outside hitter added six digs.
• Audrey Adams posted six kills in nine attempts for a .667 hitting percentage. Senior Morgan Finn chipped in eight kills with a .385 hitting percentage. Freshman Kelly Franxman added five kills.
• Senior setter McKena Estes recorded a team-high 16 assists, while Nadia Dieudonne posted 15. The two players combined for five digs.
• Senior Meredith Klare led the team in digs with nine. Both teams posted three total team blocks with freshman Jayda Carlton leading Xavier with three (two solo, one assist). Marquette also had four more aces (5-1) than the Musketeers.
• Xavier picked up a four-set (25-20, 23-25, 25-14, 25-20) win over DePaul on Friday night. The Musketeers have now won four of their last five matches.
• Sophomore Nadia Dieudonne led the Musketeers with 21 assists to go along with six digs. Senior setter McKena Estes added 17 assists, seven digs and a match-high four aces.
• The Musketeers held an 8-1 advantage in aces and had one more total team block (9-8) than the Blue Demons.
• Sophomore Audrey Adams was one of two Musketeers with double-figure kills as the middle blocker finished with 13. She added a .591 hitting percentage and three blocks. Freshman Jayda Carlton added six blocks on the night.
• Freshman Norah Painter added 11 kills, while senior Laura Grossman chipped in nine. Grossman also posted 18 digs on the night.
• Senior libero Meredith Klare finished with a team-high 20 digs to go along with five assists. Junior Madi Kutruff chipped in nine digs.
• Senior Laura Grossman was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. She earns weekly honors from the conference office for the third time this season.
• The outside hitter posted a match-high 13 kills to go along with 18 digs against Butler on Friday night, her third straight double-double and eighth of the season. The Musketeers swept the season series against the Bulldogs with a three-set victory.
BIG EAST HONOREES
• Senior Meredith Klare has 1,915 career digs to rank second all-time in program history. Stephanie Vorherr (2009-12) holds the program record with 2,152 digs.
• The Union, Ky., native posted 520 digs a year ago, the fourth most in single-season school history.
• Senior Meredith Klare leads the team in digs (4.52 d/s) this season. In BIG EAST only matches, she ranks third in digs (4.98 d/s). The libero led the BIG EAST in digs per set (4.37) last year and finished the year ranked 88th nationally in total digs.
• Freshman Jayda Carlton leads the Musketeers in blocks with 106, while ranking 61st nationally overall and 11th among freshmen. The middle blocker is averaging 1.22 blocks per set to rank third in the BIG EAST. In conference only matches, she is averaging 1.42 blocks per set rank third in the BIG EAST.
• Audrey Adams ranks third in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.360), while ranking 79th nationally. The middle blocker has increased her hitting percentage to .385 in conference matches. She also ranks second on the team in kills (2.27 k/s).
• In BIG EAST only matches, Xavier ranks second in the conference in digs (16.58) and blocks (2.59) and fourth in opponent hitting percentage (.186).
• Freshman Jayda Carlton posted a match-high 12 blocks against St. John's, tying the school record for single-match blocks. Alexis Newsome posted 12 blocks against St. John's last season on Oct. 7. The 12 blocks are also the most by a BIG EAST player this season, while ranking 12th in the NCAA.
• Xavier posted 11 more total team blocks (21-10) than the Red Storm. The 21 total team blocks are the second-most by a BIG EAST team this season, while ranking ninth in the NCAA.
• Freshman Mackenzie Mangette had five aces in the four-set win at Seton Hall. The five aces rank tied for second in single-match aces in the BIG EAST this season.
• Xavier played its first eight matches on the road. The Musketeers traveled to the Puerto Rico Clásico on Aug. 31-Sept. 2 and the Purdue Tournament on Sept. 7-8.
• The Musketeers hosted their own tournament at Cintas Center on Sept. 14-15. Xavier faced Indiana, Eastern Kentucky and crosstown rival Cincinnati during tournament action.
• Xavier will play three teams that finished the year ranked in the AVCA Coaches' Poll: No. 16 Creighton, No. 18 Purdue and No. 20 Missouri.

• Xavier added two new assistant coaches during the offseason in Katie Meyer and Ali Butcher. Meyer was named an assistant coach in January of 2018 after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Ursuline College.
• Butcher was named a volunteer assistant coach in August of 2018. She previously worked at Elevation Volleyball Club for two years, serving as an assistant to the club directors while also working as a club coach.

• Xavier concludes regular-season action with a BIG EAST road swing on Nov. 16-17. The Musketeers take on Georgetown on Friday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. and Villanova on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.
