Sophomore forward A'riana Gray posted a career-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds on Sunday night
CINCINNATIΒ - Sophomore forward A'riana Gray posted a career-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds - her second career double-double - to lead the Xavier women's basketball team to a 70-60 win over Tennessee Tech on Sunday night. The Musketeers move to 2-0 on the the year, while the Golden Eagles drop to 1-1.

β’ The Golden Eagles hit 60 percent (6-for-10) of their shots in the first quarter to jump out to a 20-17 advantage after 10 minutes of play. The Musketeers responded by opening the second frame on a 12-5 run, regaining a lead they would never relinquish. Xavier hit 50 percent of its shot attempts in the second quarter to take a 36-33 advantage into the locker room.
β’ The Musketeers went 14-for-28 from the floor in the first half. A'riana Gray led the Musketeers in scoring (11) and rebounding (5) at the break.Β
β’ Both teams had 16 rebounds in the first half. The first half also featured six ties and six lead changes.Β

β’ Xavier raced out to a 46-35 advantage in the second half, the Musketeers largest lead of the game. Tennessee Tech got within two (48-46) with 17 seconds left in the third quarter before a Na'Teshia Owens three pointer in the closing seconds gave Xavier a five-point advantage heading into the final quarter.
β’ The Musketeers outscored the Golden Eagles, 19-14, in the final frame for the 70-60 ledger. Xavier sealed the win by going 5-for-8 from the foul line to end the game, capped by four made free throws by Na'TeshiaΒ Owens down the stretch.Β

β’ Sophomore Aaliyah Dunham scored 13 points on 4-for-9 shooting, while Na'TeshiaΒ Owens added 12 points on 4-for-9 shooting. Dunham also dished out a game-high seven assists.
β’Β Freshman Ayanna Townsend chipped in six points on 2-for-3 shooting in 12 minutes of action off the bench. She added six rebounds, three blocks and one steal.
β’Β Xavier held a 40-37 advantage on the glass. The Musketeers also forced 13 turnovers, converting the miscues into 20 points. Xavier also held a 13-0 advantage in fastbreak points.Β
