Gray Posts Double-Double, Musketeers Down Golden Eagles, 70-60

Sophomore forward A'riana Gray posted a career-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds on Sunday night
CINCINNATI - Sophomore forward A'riana Gray posted a career-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds - her second career double-double - to lead the Xavier women's basketball team to a 70-60 win over Tennessee Tech on Sunday night. The Musketeers move to 2-0 on the the year, while the Golden Eagles drop to 1-1.
• The Golden Eagles hit 60 percent (6-for-10) of their shots in the first quarter to jump out to a 20-17 advantage after 10 minutes of play. The Musketeers responded by opening the second frame on a 12-5 run, regaining a lead they would never relinquish. Xavier hit 50 percent of its shot attempts in the second quarter to take a 36-33 advantage into the locker room.
• The Musketeers went 14-for-28 from the floor in the first half. A'riana Gray led the Musketeers in scoring (11) and rebounding (5) at the break.
• Both teams had 16 rebounds in the first half. The first half also featured six ties and six lead changes.
• Xavier raced out to a 46-35 advantage in the second half, the Musketeers largest lead of the game. Tennessee Tech got within two (48-46) with 17 seconds left in the third quarter before a Na'Teshia Owens three pointer in the closing seconds gave Xavier a five-point advantage heading into the final quarter.
• The Musketeers outscored the Golden Eagles, 19-14, in the final frame for the 70-60 ledger. Xavier sealed the win by going 5-for-8 from the foul line to end the game, capped by four made free throws by Na'Teshia Owens down the stretch.

• Xavier held a 40-37 advantage on the glass. The Musketeers also forced 13 turnovers, converting the miscues into 20 points. Xavier also held a 13-0 advantage in fastbreak points.
• Xavier returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 14 against Big Ten foe Minnesota. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. from Cintas Center.
