CINCINNATI – Xavier women's tennis head coach Doug Matthews announced the signing of Anna Roggenburk as a member of the 2019 recruiting class. Roggenburk, a native of Avon Lake, Ohio, comes to Xavier as a Top-50 rated player nationally and the top player in Ohio.
"I could not be more excited to welcome Anna to the Xavier tennis family," said Matthews. "She is a game-changer for our program. Her work ethic is incredible and she is a flat-out winner. Off the court she is a great person, student and comes from a close knit and supportive family. I can't wait for her to get on campus next fall and Xavier will be a better place with her here!"
Roggenburk will join the Musketeers from Magnificat High School, where she has been part of the varsity team for four years. She comes off a 37-0 senior season in which she won a second-straight D1 State Singles Championship, helping propel her to the No. 1 ranking in the State of Ohio, and to No. 48 nationally. The five-star recruit is the highest-rated player Xavier has signed in program history.
"I chose Xavier because when I met the coaches and the girls on the team, it was an easy decision for me," said Roggenburk. "I knew Xavier would be a perfect school for me, and a great place to continue my tennis career."
In addition to a pair of singles championships during her high school career, Roggenburk was also the D1 Singles Runner-up in 2016. In each of her three seasons at Magnificat, the team has finished in the top three in Division 1, winning the team title in 2016, finishing third in 2017, and finishing runners-up last season.
Roggenburk, who plans on studying Nursing, will be part of the 2023 class at Xavier. She is the daughter of Matt and Colleen Roggenburk. Her father played college basketball at Creighton from 1986-90, scoring over 800 points in his college career. Roggenburk has two siblings, Lissy and Matt.
