Men's Basketball Prepares For No. 9 Auburn At Maui Jim Maui Invitational

Musketeers are looking for more success against the SEC.
MAUI, HI – The Xavier University men's basketball team, 2-1, opens play in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational on Monday vs. 3-0 and No. 9 Auburn at Lahaina Civic Center. This is Xavier's first trip to the Maui Invitational. The Musketeers have won holiday tournaments in two of the last three seasons.
Xavier leads the series with Auburn 5-4, including an 85-61 win over the Tigers in the 2015-16 season (12-19-15) at Cintas Center on the Xavier campus. XU has won five of the last six meetings.
Xavier has had recent success against current teams in the Southeastern Conference. XU is 19-5 in its last 24 games against nine different current SEC members dating back to 2008: Alabama (3-0), Auburn (3-1), Florida (1-1), Georgia (3-0), LSU (2-0), Missouri (4-0), Ole Miss (1-0), Tennessee (1-2) and Vanderbilt (1-1).

• Xavier, 2-1, is coming off a 77-68 loss to Wisconsin on Tuesday that snapped Xavier's 41-game non-conference home court winning streak.
• Xavier has six players averaging in double figures in scoring through three games.

• Xavier sophomore Naji Marshall recorded career highs for scoring (24) and rebounding (13) in the Wisconsin game. He hit 10-of-15 shots from the field.
• Xavier graduate transfer Zach Hankins recorded a double-double vs. Wisconsin with 11 points and 10 rebounds to go with four blocks.
• Xavier junior Tyrique Jones, who earned a spot on the weekly BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll, grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds in the Evansville win, the first 20-rebound game for a Musketeer since David West grabbed 21 in an overtime win vs. George Washington in the 2000-01 season (2-3-01).
• Xavier sophomore Paul Scruggs scored a career-high 24 points in the Evansville win, while matching his career highs for rebounds (6) and assists (5).
• Xavier junior Quentin Goodin returned to action vs. Evansville after missing the exhibition game and the opener vs. IUPUI. Goodin contributed 14 points vs. UE and 13 points and five assists vs. Wisconsin.
• Xavier won its first BIG EAST Conference Regular Season Championship last season. XU played in its fifth straight NCAA Tournament and its 12th in 13 years.
• Xavier has graduated 109 straight men's basketball seniors dating back to the 1985-86 school year.
