Ross Scores Career-High 22 Points, Xavier Tops Chicago State, 91-57, in Season Opener

CINCINNATI - Sophomore Deja Ross scored a career-high 22 points on Wednesday night, leading the Xavier women's basketball team to a 91-57 season-opener win over Chicago State. The Musketeers moved to 19-0 in season openers at Cintas Center following the win.
• The Musketeers moved to 24-13 all-time in season openers dating back to 1982-83 (first year NCAA Division I). Xavier also moved to 19-0 in home openers at Cintas Center.
• Sophomore Deja Ross was one of four Musketeers in double-figures with a career-high 22 points. The forward was 8-for-11 from the floor and 4-for-7 from behind the arc.
• Freshman Ayanna Townsend added 15 points on 6-for-6 shooting to go along with a game-high eight rebounds. She also added a game-high four blocks as the Musketeers held a 7-2 advantage in blocks.
• Sophomore A'riana Gray added 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting, while redshirt-junior Tierra Floyd chipped in 10 points on 4-for-9 shooting. Gray also added five rebounds.
• Xavier held a 20-2 advantage in assists, paced by sophomore Aly Reiff who had four. She added seven rebounds and six points.
• The Musketeers held a 41-35 advantage on the glass and scored 16 more second-chance points (20-4) than the Cougars. The Musketeers also forced 26 turnovers, turning the miscues into 22 points.
• Sophomore Aaliyah Dunham posted nine points, three rebounds, three assists and a team-high four steals. The Musketeers had seven more steals (12-5) than the Cougars.
• The 91 points are the most points in a game for Xavier since scoring 91 against Marquette on Feb. 16, 2015. Xavier won 91-72 at Cintas Center.
• Xavier returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 11 against Tennessee Tech. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. from Cintas Center.
