12.04.18 | Men's Basketball
Musketeers are looking for a fourth straight win.
CINCINNATI --- The Xavier Musketeers play the third and final game of the homestand on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. vs. Ohio at Cintas Center. Xavier, 5-3, has won three straight games while Ohio, 5-2, also has a three-game winning streak.
Ohio leads the series 20-14, although Xavier won the last meeting and the only meeting since the 1995-96 season. XU defeated OU 78-56 in the 2008-09 season at Cintas Center. Xavier has won nine straight and 17 of its last 18 meetings against teams from the Mid-American Conference, including an 82-55 win over Miami to open this homestand on Nov. 28.
Xavier has plenty of connections to Ohio University. Xavier assistant coach Dante Jackson started his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant for one season (2011-12) under then-Ohio University (now Akron) head coach John Groce, the brother of Xavier head coach Travis Steele. The Bobcats finished with an overall record of 29-8 that season, won the 2012 Mid-American Conference Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Xavier first-year graduate program assistant Sam Frayer, a 2018 Ohio University graduate, played four years as a walk-on on the Bobcats basketball team.
