Trevon Bluiett's 26 points moves him into second on the all-time leading scorers list, passing David West

CINCINNATI – No. 4 Xavier fell, 95-79, to No. 3 Villanova on Saturday night at Cintas Center. Trevon Bluiett led four Musketeers in double digits with 26 points, as he passed David West for second most career points in Xavier history.

Xavier moved to 24-4 on the season and 12-3 in BIG EAST play. The loss moved the Musketeers to 16-1 on the season at Cintas Center. Villanova moved to 24-3 overall and 11-3 in BIG EAST play.

FIRST HALF

Xavier open the contest with an 8-5 lead, led by J.P. Macura's back-to-back threes.
Quentin Goodin led the Musketeers in the first half with six assists.
J.P. Macura led Xavier with 10 points, shooting 66.7 percent from behind the arc and 75 percent from the field.
Trevon Bluiett finished the half with eight points and four rebounds.
The Musketeers finished the half shooting an impressive 100 percent from the line.
Xavier responded to a 13-4 Villanova run by earning a 9-5 run before the break.
Xavier trailed 51-31 at the 20-minute mark.

SECOND HALF

Xavier opened the second half and came as close at three points, 64-61, at the 11:18 minute mark, as a result of a 24-11 Musketeer run.
Trevon Bluiett led the run with nine points. Bluiett finished the night with 26 points, four rebounds and one block.
The Musketeers turned six Wildcat turnovers to nine points and out-rebounded Villanova on the glass 31-28 led by Naji Marshall's eight boards.
Trevon Bluiett had 18 points in the second half, going 5-of-6 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the free throw line.

NOTABLES

Bluiett passed David West as the second all-time scorer with 2,140 total career points.
Quentin Goodin finished the night with 10 points, career-high 12 assists and three rebounds.
Naji Marshall earned a career-high eight rebounds and added 11 points.
Xavier gave up 16 made three-pointers, the most in program history.
The Musketeers shot 84 percent from the line going 19-22 and had 38 points in the paint.
J.P. Macura had 14 on 5-8 shooting.
