Xavier Swimming Closes Out the BIG EAST Championships with an NCAA B-Cut and New School Records

Emily Conners sets third NCAA B-Cut of the Meet, sets new school record in 100 free
Eleven top-three finishes, including four second-place finishes in relays, helped the Musketeer women to a fourth-place team finish, standing behind champions Villanova, Georgetown and Seton Hall.
Xavier's men collected 10 top-three finishes, including finishing top three in four of five relays, to finish fourth in the team standings behind Seton Hall, Villanova and Georgetown.

 WOMEN'S NOTABLE |
- Emma Kauffeld set a season-best time of 17:04.02 in the mile to finish seventh in the timed event.
- Katie Kerr and Becca Titterton finished ninth and 10th, respectively in the 1,640 free.
- Paxtyn Drew posted the third fastest time during the prelims of the 200 back, 2:01.01 to earn a spot in the championship heat. She bettered that time to 2:00.48 in the finals, taking the bronze medal.
- Ali Fort led the field in the B-Final of the 200 back with a time of 2:02.76. Anne Locker finished third in the B-Final, 11th overall and Taylor Hogan finished 16th.
- Emily Conners' time of 50.02 in the prelims of the 100 free set a new school record and put her in the A-Final as the second seed. In the championship heat, she set a new program-best mark of 49.86, hitting the NCAA B-Cut standard and taking third.
- Abigail Garner led the field in the B-Final of the 100 free with a time of 51.51. Tianna Vozar and Emily Saugstad also competed in the B-Final, finishing 12th and 13th.
- Delaney Sprague and Samantha White competed in the B-Final of the 200 breast. Sprague finished 10th with a time of 2:22.65. White finished 12th.
- Taylor Hogan set a time of 2:02.70 in the 200 fly to qualify for the championships final where she finished fifth.
- Annie Cummins and Emma Kauffeld were the top-two qualifiers in the B-Final of the 200 fly. In the consolation heat, Cummins took the tops spot with a time of 2:04.77. Kauffeld finished 12th.
- Xavier's women closed out the meet with a second-place finish and a new school record in the 400 free relay for Emily Conners, Abby Garner, Caroline Gaertner and Paxtyn Drew, who finished in 3:21.77.
- Xavier's women finished in fourth, just 33 points behind Seton Hall.

 MEN'S NOTABLE |
- Nick Mahoney took second place in the 1,650 free with a time of 15:41.08. Alex Wolfred also finished in the top five with a time of 15:49.30.Â
- Patrick Hackett and Bradley Jackson competed in the timed mile as well, finishing 11th and 13th, respectively.
- Chase Baldwin set a new school record in the 200 back during prelims, touching the wall in 1:47.75. In the championship heat, Nathan Runyon reclaimed the program-best mark with a time of 1:47.41 to take fifth. Baldwin finished just behind him in sixth.
- Nathan Ruynon and Alex Sironen also competed in the championship final of the 200 back.
- Nick Mahoney competed in the B-Final of the 200 back, finishing 15th.
- Sam Johanns and David Bunnell competed in the championship final of the 100 free. Johanns used a time of 45.20 to take 6th and Bunnell finished just behind him in seventh.
- Robert Snader, Enrique Hernandez and Jared Ritz competed in the B-Final of the 100 free, finishing 12th, 14th and 15th, respectively.
- Matthew Dyer qualified third in the 200 breast and in the championship heat, used a time of 2:00.32 to take second.
- Owen Dougherty also competed in the championship final of the 200 breast, finishing fifth with a time of 2:03.08.
- Cameron Weese and Lucas Kokubo competed in the B-Final of the 200 breast, finishing 12th and 16th respectively.
- Landon Clark set the top qualifying time in the prelims of the 200 fly, 1:50.25. In the championship heat, he finished fourth in a race where the top four were separated by less than four tenths of a second.
- Brandon Abboud also competed in the Championship final of the 200 fly, finishing fifth.
- Bradley Jackson competed in the B-Final of the 200 fly, placing 16th.
- Xavier's men closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay, with Sam Johanns, David Bunnell, Jared Ritz and Alex Sironen finishing in 3:00.47.
- Xavier's men finished in fourth place, less than 25 points behind third-place Georgetown.Â
