Fitzpatrick Finishes Tied for Seventh as Women's Golf Earns 10th Place at Rio Verde Invitational

Mikayla Fitzpatrick led the Musketeers tying for seventh place
RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Xavier women's golf wrapped up the three-day Rio Verde Invitational Sunday afternoon finishing in 10th place. The Musketeers, who totaled a team score of 922 (+58), were led by Mikayla Fitzpatrick as she tied for seventh place finishing 224 (+8).
Fitzpatrick earned another top-10 finish on the strength of 35 pars for the weekend. The sophomore also carded one of just two birdies at the event, capping her round on Saturday with a birdie-par sequence on holes 17 and 18. She was tied for fourth in the field in par-4 scoring, finishing the tournament at 5-over.
Mikayla Smith jumped two places from the second round to finish the tournament tying for 19th. Smith birdied twice on holes No. 14 and No. 18, carding a 1-under 35 on the back nine to improve her final score to 228 (+12).
Morgan Tinsley had her best round of the weekend with a 75 (+3) in the third round, where she carded a birdie on the first hole. Tinsley improved her standings on the final day jumping 13 spots. The freshman finished with an overall 240 (+24).

The Musketeers return to action Monday, March 5-6 in Jacksonville, Fla., in the UNF Collegiate at the Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.
