
Xavier Women's Tennis Picks Up 7-0 Road Win at Dayton Flyers

DAYTON, Ohio – Back to back wins for Xavier women's tennis after a 7-0 victory in Dayton. The Musketeers dominated the Flyers winning all six singles matches, along with two of the three doubles matches to pick the points needed to win.
Head Coach Doug Matthews thoughts on today's match, "Today was a good road win for us. Dayton is a really tricky team that makes a ton of balls and competes well. I am happy with how our team is working and getting better every week."
Freshman Ahmeir Kyle is coming into her own at No. 1 singles. Kyle has won her last five singles including the 6-2, 7-6 (7) win at Dayton today. At No. 2 singles, senior Lauren Ghidotti won easily 6-0, 6-3. Ghidotti has claimed victory in four of her last five matches. Junior Sophia Abelson picked up win No. 10 with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. At No. 4, sophomore Rachael Reichenbach came back to go three sets to pick up her eighth win of the season 2-6, 6-0, 10-1. Senior transfer Elizabeth Bagerbaseh has found her stride at No. 5 singles. Bagerbaseh won today 6-1, 6-0 and is second on the team with nine singles wins, including a 8-2 record since moving to the No. 5 position. Sophomore Lauren Fitz-Randolph picked up her seventh win of the season (6-2, 6-4) at No. 6 singles to round out the singles matches. All seven Musketeers that have played singles matches this season post winning records.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Lauren Ghidotti and Sophia Abelson won their fifth straight match easily 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Rachael Reichenbach and Ahmeir Kyle dropped their match 6-4, but the No. 3 team of Elizabeth Bagerbaseh and Zoe Manion won the needed point 6-4.
Xavier Women's Tennis looks to improve to 3-0 in the BIG EAST with their next match on Saturday, Mar. 24 at 3:00 p.m. against Villanova.
