SAN FRANCISCO - Xavier baseball rallied to take a 2-1 lead in the sixth, but a grand slam answer in the bottom half helped San Francisco beat XU, 8-2, on Friday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond.

The Musketeeers (4-10) will wrap up the series on Saturday with a doubleheader against the Dons.

XU AT THE PLATE

• Xavier's offense was limited to just two runs on five hits on Friday.
• Ryan Altenberger went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Musketeers.
• Joe Gellenbeck (1-for-3, 2B, RBI), Allbry Major (1-for-4) and Andrew Sexton (1-for-3, R) also provided hits for XU.

XU ON THE MOUND

• Freshman Allbry Major made his first career start on the mound, going 5.1 innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits before a pair of walks got him in trouble in the sixth. He would leave with the bases loaded as three more runs later came across on a grand slam allowed by Evan Miller in relief.
• Freshman Griffin Lanoue tossed the final two innings, giving up three earned runs.

HOW XU SCORED

SIXTH INNING: Andrew Sexton singled up the middle to start the inning, moving to third on a single by Ryan Altenberger and scoring on a fielder's choice play. Altenberger would later come around to score on a two out double down the right field line by Joe Gellenbeck.
