WASHINGTON, D.C. - Xavier baseball fell in 10 innings, splitting its BIG EAST opener at Georgetown in a 2-1 game on Friday at Shirley Povich Field.

The Musketeers fell to 11-18 (1-1 BIG EAST) with the win, while Georgetown improved to 8-20 (1-1 BIG EAST).

• Xavier returns to the diamond on Sunday, playing game three of the weekend series at 1 p.m. at Shirley Povich Field.

XU AT THE PLATE

• Xavier worked five walks, but was held to just one hit and one run in the game.
• Chris Givin (1-for-5, RBI) provided XU's lone run with an RBI single in the third inning.

XU ON THE MOUND

• Junior Matt Kent got the start and went seven innings, scattering six hits and striking out seven while allowing just one unearned run.
• Evan Miller came on in relief, tossing 1.1 innings of scoreless ball and working around two walks.
• Sophomore Conor Grammes came on to close out the game, going 1.1 innings and striking out two while allowing one earned run.

HOW XU SCORED

THIRD INNING | Nate Soria led off the inning with a walk, stealing second and third with one out. Chris Givin then singled to left, bringing Soria home to make it a 1-1 game.
