CINCINNATI - Xavier Athletics and the Cincinnati USA Sports Commission have been selected to host one of four NCAA Regionals in 2021 as announced by the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee.
"We are excited to partner with the Cincinnati USA Sports Commission to host a regional for the 2021 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament," said Xavier Vice President for Administration and Director of Athletics Greg Christopher. "After previously hosting first and second round action, we are thrilled at the opportunity to host again and showcase the newly renovated Cintas Center."
The four regionals in 2021 are Albany, N.Y. (Times Union Center), Austin, Texas (H-E-B Center in Cedar Park), Cincinnati (Cintas Center) and Spokane, Wash. (Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena). Cintas Center will be hosting regional play for the first time after hosting first and second round action in 2001, 2010 and 2011.
"The Cincinnati USA Sports Commission is proud to have worked with Xavier to welcome the NCAA Tournament back to Cintas Center," said Leslie Spencer, Sports Commission executive director. "We have some of the best basketball fans in the country in our area and being the host for a regional site means we'll have some of the top women's basketball teams in the country, right here at Cintas."
The NCAA also announced the sites for the 2022 regionals on Wednesday. The sites are Bridgeport, Conn., Greensboro, N.C., Spokane, Wash., and Wichita, Kan.
