Men's Soccer Assistant Coach Kevin Reiman Elevated to Recruiting Coordinator Position
08.15.18 | Men's Soccer
CINCINNATI - Men's soccer head coach Andy Fleming announced a promotion for assistant coach Kevin Reiman on Wednesday, elevating the second-year staffer to the title of assistant coach/recruiting coordinator.
"Last spring it became clear that David Costa would assume most of the tactical and running practice duties, while Kevin began to show a skill for not only identifying and engaging prospects but also organizing our recruiting travel, correspondence, on-campus visits and the events we attended. With that, he will now spearhead our recruiting and be the point person on all related fronts. I'm excited to see him thrive in this role as it will not only make everyone's lives easier, but add into his development as a coach and also enhance our recruiting efforts for the 2019 class and beyond."
Reiman joined XU before the 2017 season after four seasons at Seattle Pacific, where he helped his team to a 48-13-14 record, including a 26-4-9 home mark at Interbay Stadium. The Falcons made three consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, two of them as the No. 1 seed in the West Region. They also won the 2014 and 2015 Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships.
Prior to his time at Seattle Pacific, Reiman spent two seasons as an assistant at Army and two years in the business sector in Seattle.
Reiman earned a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice from Michigan State in 2008. Before joining the Army staff, Reiman was the head coach of the freshman soccer team at Okemos High School in Michigan for one season.
The Musketeers finished the 2017 season 11-6-3 and advanced to the BIG EAST Championships title game in Reiman's first year on staff and are receiving votes in the 2018 United Soccer Coaches preseason poll.
"We've had some talented assistants here over the past few years who have been in demand. As a result, we went through a few seasons of turnover. However, last year our coaches really came together and hit their stride and I'm excited to have all four back for 2018."
