Audrey Adams had 14 kills, five blocks and posted a .571 hitting percentage

DEKALB, Ill. - Three Musketeers posted double-figure kills on Saturday afternoon as Xavier volleyball defeated Northern Illinois in four sets (20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-18) at the NIU Invitational.

The Musketeers move to 1-1 on the year, while the Huskies dropped to 0-2.

NOTABLES

• Senior Laura Grossman posted a team-high 18 kills to go along with eight digs and three blocks. The outside hitter finished the weekend with a team-high 31 kills (4.43 k/s), while posting a .385 hitting percentage.

• Sophomore Audrey Adams hit .571 with 14 kills and five blocks. Freshman Norah Painter added 10 kills and two blocks.

• Freshman Jayda Carlton added seven kills, four blocks and a .636 hitting percentage.

• The Musketeers had four more total team blocks (9-5) than Northern Illinois and limited the Huskies to a .220 hitting percentage. Xavier hit .480 in the fourth set and .467 in the third set.

• Senior Meredith Klare posted a match-high 13 digs, while classmate Olivia Hart added 11 digs and two aces.

• Senior McKena Estes led the team in assists with 26, while sophomore Nadia Dieudonne posted 21 assists. The two setters combined for nine digs.

• Xavier returns to action at the Puerto Rico Tournament in San Juan on Aug. 31 - Sept. 2. The Musketeers open tournament play on Friday against Missouri at 5:30 p.m.
