Freshman outside hitter Norah Painter hit .522 with a team-high 14 kills

SAN JUAN, P.R. - Freshman Norah Painter hit .522 with a team-high 14 kills on Sunday afternoon as the Musketeers dropped a four-set match to Arizona State (13-25, 25-13, 23-25, 21-25). The match was the first of two on Sunday for the Musketeers as they return to action at 5:30 p.m. against Towson to wrap up Puerto Rico Clásico play.

The Sun Devils improved to 5-0 on the year, while the Musketeers dropped to 1-3.

NOTABLES

• Freshman Norah Painter posted a team-high 14 kills with a .522 hitting percentage. The outside hitter added two blocks.

• Sophomore Moriah Hopkins added 10 kills with a .450 hitting percentage. The middle blocker added four blocks. Audrey Adams chipped in a team-high five blocks and five kills.

• Senior Laura Grossman posted a match-high 11 digs to go along seven kills. Libero Meredith Klare added six digs and two aces.

• Freshman Jayda Carlton chipped in six kills with a .714 hitting percentage, while Morgan Finn added four kills.

• Xavier had four more total team blocks (9-4) than the Sun Devils, while both teams had five aces in the match. The five aces for Xavier were a season high.

• The Musketeers posted a season-high .376 hitting percentage.
