Women's Golf Finishes in Top-Five for Second Straight Tournament

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Xavier women's golf finished its second straight tournament in the top-5 with the completion of the Nittany Lion Invitational this afternoon. The Musketeers carded a 290 (+2) in the third and final round with a team score of 894 for the weekend. This placed them in a tie for fifth place with Navy.

Mikayla Fitzpatrick finished out another tournament extremely well, finishing with a total of 219 (+3) and in a tie for 12th place overall. She shot 2-under in the final two rounds of the tournament, finishing with a nine total birdies. Fitzpatrick was in a tie for third in Par 4 scoring at 3.97 (-1).

Morgan Tinsley moved up six places in the final round with a second round at even par, she finished in a tie for 17th. Tinsley carded a 222 (+6) over the 54-hole tournament and
ranked highly in multiple categories including Par 3 scoring at 3.08 (+1) and totaled 34 pars.

Lyndsey Hunnell carded a 227 (+11) in her first tournament for Xavier. Hunnell finished the tournament tied for 33rd, consistently improving her score through all three rounds and finishing with 34 total pars.

Mikayla Smith completed the tournament one stroke behind Hunnell with 228 (+12) and led Xavier with a total of 37 pars. She moved up 11 total places into a tie for 37th with her performance the final round.

Kayla Benge finished out the tournament in a tie for 67th with a 237 (+21) and Abby Kiefer, who competed as an individual for the Musketeers, carded a 235 (+19) and in a tie for 62nd. This was Kiefer's first collegiate match.

TEAM RESULTS

The Musketeers carded an 894 (+30) and finished in a tie for fifth with Navy.

Penn State and Washington tied for the win with a score of 864 (E).

NEXT UP

The Musketeers will return to action in the Princess Anne Invitational on October 5-7.
