
Musketeers Drop Stacey Clark Classic Opener at No. 19 Purdue

Xavier lost the match in four sets
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Xavier volleyball dropped its opening match of the Stacey Clark Classic on Friday morning, fall at No. 19 Purdue in four sets (17-25, 28-26, 13-25, 16-25). The Musketeers dropped to 1-5 on the year, while the Boilermakers improved to 6-0.
The Musketeers return to action at 5 p.m. on Friday evening against Louisville (4-2). The Cardinals' opening match of the tournament started at noon against Lipscomb.

• Senior Laura Grossman posted the second double-double of her career as she recorded a team-high 11 kills with 14 digs. She has record 10 or more kills in four matches this season.
• Senior Meredith Klare recorded a season-high 18 digs to go along with two assists. The libero is now 48 digs away from moving into third all-time at Xavier in career digs.
• Freshman Norah Painter chipped in nine kills, while sophomores Audrey Adams and Moriah Hopkins both added seven. Adams also had two blocks.
• Senior setter McKena Estes had 19 assists and five digs, while sophomore Nadia Dieudonne chipped in 17 assists and six digs.Â
• Purdue posted seven more (12-5) total team blocks than Xavier and had three more aces (6-3). Junior Madi Kutruff led Xavier with two aces.
• Xavier posted its best hitting percentage (.270) in set two. Middle blocker Audrey Adams hit .750 with three kills, while outside hitter Norah Painter led the Musketeers with four kills. The Musketeers led for nearly the entire set before Purdue battled back to take a 24-22 lead. Xavier rallied to force the set into extra points before Norah Painter posted a kill on the final play of the frame, winning the set 28-26.
