CINCINNATI - Jan Vrba led Xavier men's tennis with a pair of wins as the Musketeers fell, 6-1, to Belmont at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club on Saturday.

The Musketeers return to the road on Saturday, February 2, when the Musketeers travel to Ball State for a noon match.

THE MATCH

Jan Vrba, partnered with Michael Lee, picked up the 5-2 win in the No. 3 doubles spot. Brett Winters and Jack Dykema fell in the No. 1 spot, 6-2, and Connor LaFavre and Matthew Graft fell, 6-3, in the No. 2 spot, giving the Bruins the doubles point and the 1-0 lead.

In singles play, Vrba picked up the only point for the Musketeers, from the No. 5 spot, winning in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (10-7).

In the No. 2 singles spot, Jack Dykema forced multiple tiebreakers in the third set, after Dykema took the 4-6 win in the second set to extend the match.

Michael Lee, in the No. 6 spot, also set his third set to multiple tie breakers, after taking the second set to force a third.

Brett Winters fell, 6-2, 7-5, in the No. 1 singles spot. Matthew Graft fell, 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 3 spot and Connor LaFavre fell, 6-2, 6-4, in the No. 4 spot.
