Xavier erases 17-point first half deficit behind career-highs for Musketeer big men
CINCINNATI – A pair of double-doubles, for Zach Hankins and Tyrique Jones, led Xavier to an 81-75 come-back win over Georgetown at Cintas Center on Wednesday evening. In the first game with both big men starting, Hankins and Jones combined for 42 points and 20 rebounds as Xavier erased a 17-point first half deficit to move to 10-7 on the season and 2-2 in BIG EAST play.
Career-high performances for Hankins and Jones led four Musketeers in double figures.

FIRST HALF |
- Xavier opened up with three baskets in the paint for Zach Hankins and Tyrique Jones, but GU answered with three straight threes, turning a 4-0 Xavier lead into a 9-6 deficit for the Musketeers.
- The Hoyas opened the game going 6-of-6 from three, helping fuel a 17-2 run to take a 13-point, 28-15 lead with just over 10 minutes gone from the game.
- The Hoyas extended the lead out to as many as 17, 39-22, with 3:14 remaining in the first half before Xavier closed out the half on 12-0 run, with four points each for Hankins, Naji Marshall and Tyrique Jones, to cut the deficit back to five, 39-35, at the half.
- Hankins led the Musketeers with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor.
- Hankins also grabbed five rebounds to lead the Musketeers. GU held a 22-16 advantage on the boards.
- Four late Hoya turnovers helped fuel Xavier's late run, with Xavier only committing two turnovers to six for GU, outscoring Georgetown 10-3 on points on miscue.
- After GU opened the game 6-of-6 from three, the Hoyas shot 1-of-7 from outside for the remainder of the half, while Xavier climbed back into the game by outscoring GU, 24-16, in the paint.

- Xavier opened the second half with five straight points, extending the run to 17-0 and tying the game, 39-39, with less than two minutes gone from the second half.
- GU's Jesse Govan scored four straight to retake the lead, but a Tyrique Jones dunk and Elias Harden three erased the deficit to put Xavier ahead for the first time since the opening minutes, 45-44.
- GU retook the lead, 54-52, when Xavier scored nine straight to take a seven-point lead, 61-54, with under 10 minutes remaining.
- Xavier held its largest lead of the game at eight, 67-59, with five minutes to play. The Musketeers maintained a five-to-seven point lead going into the final minute when GU cut the lead back to three, 75-72.
- In the final minute, Xavier went 6-of-8 from the line to maintain its advantage, taking the 81-75 win.
- Tyrique Jones led the Musketeers with 13 points in the second half. Paul Scruggs added 10 after the break.
- Jones also led the Musketeers on the board in the second half, grabbing seven rebounds as Xavier outrebounded the Hoyas 20-10 in the second half. Xavier held an 8-2 advantage on the offensive board, leading to an 8-0 advantage on second chance points.

- Zach Hankins led the Musketeers with a career-high 23 points, shooting 10-of-14 from the floor. Tyrique Jones finished with 19 points, matching his career high, after going 9-of-9 from the free throw line.
- Hankins and Jones, who started together for the first time this season, helped Xavier dominate the points in the 48-28.
- Hankins and Jones each also grabbed 10 rebounds, as Xavier held a 36-32 advantage on the boards.
- The double-doubles for Hankins and Jones are the first time since Quentin Goodin and Naji Marshall both had double-doubles against Eastern Kentucky in December.
- Marshall finished with 13 points and Paul Scruggs added 10 for the Musketeers.
- The Musketeers finished with just four turnovers, the second lowest total of the season.
