Xavier moves to 3-3 in BIG EAST play

• Jayda Carlton was Xavier's star of the match, as the sophomore middle blocker put away three kills without an error for a sparkling hitting percentage of .429. Additionally, she blocked seven balls (one solo) as part of the Musketeers' 12-block effort.
• Freshman Lauren Hanlon was the leader on offense with five kills at a .235 clip.
• Carrigan O'Reilly led the team with 13 assists, followed closey by Ailsa Watson's contribution of nine. The two combined for 22 of Xavier's 23 helpers.

• St. John's got off to an early start with a 3-0 lead, and they maintained the advantage through a 9-12 score. The Red Storm continued resumed attack by going on a 4-0 run followed by a 5-1 to lead by as much as 11 on their way to a 25-14 set victory.
• After dropping the first point in Set Two, Xavier came alive with a 4-0 run that included two kills from Lauren Hanlon and two blocks. However, St. John's responded with a 7-1 run to retake a 9-6 lead. After alternating kills, St. John's went on a 5-0 run that was answered by a Xavier 4-0 run to bring the score back to 18-15. While no major runs, the Red Storm finished strong to clinch the set by a score of 25-19.
• St. John's began Set Three with another 3-0 lead, and once again they held the advantage through the early-going. Xavier came back to tie the score at 8, 9 and 11. Three attack errors by the Red Storm (including two Xavier blocks) gave Xavier a 14-12 lead, but St. Johns came back to retake the lead 16-15. The Musketeers tied the score for the seventh time in the set at 16, but that was as close as they would get as St. John's went on a 5-0 run to take control. Ever the fighters, Xavier stuck around with two kills and a block from Moriah Hopkins and an ace from Madi Kutruff to get within one, but St. John's would close out the set 25-22.
