  Summary |
• Georgetown got things going early in Set One with a 4-0 run after facing a 1-2 deficient. Xavier responded later with a 4-0 run of their own to take the lead 9-8. The conference foes traded points in the middle ground before Georgetown won four-straight again, but Xavier got on a roll once more with an 8-3 scoreline to take a late lead at 19-17. However, the Hoyas closed with a 6-1 run to take the first set.
• In Set Two, Georgetown got off to a hot start and their lead was never in danger as they maintained a steady five-point lead for most of the set. In fact, after the score was 11-5, neither team scored more than two points in a row, and the Hoyas took a 2-0 advantage.
• After the long break, Xavier came out hot with five-straight points, three coming on kills from Moriah Hopkins. After a brief exchange, Xavier scored four more in a row, which set the tone for various mini-runs from the Musketeers. In the end, Xavier clinched the set with ease, 25-14.
• Set Four began evenly until an 8-1 run by the Musketeers broke it open to put Xavier ahead 13-8. The lead was steady for the middle points, but Georgetown came out of a timeout with four-straight to tie the score at 18-18, prompting a Xavier timeout to regroup. That they did, as they fought off another 3-0 Hoya run to take the set 27-25 and force the deciding fifth.
• In the decisive fifth set, it was a war of attrition. The score was tied at 6-6 before Xavier record back-to-back kills from Ellie Chaffee and Kelly Franxman to switch sides with the lead. After the switch, Georgetown got a kill before Xavier got three more in a row to go up 11-7 and take hold of the match. From there, the teams traded points until it was over…with Xavier on top 15-11 to complete the ultimate comeback.
