Last Minute Goal Keeps Women's Soccer on Top of BIG EAST Standings

Molly McLaughlin, Jenna Prathapa notch second-half goals in 2-1 win over DePaul
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer added to its program-best BIG EAST win total on Sunday, topping DePaul, 2-1, at XU Soccer Complex. Xavier moves to 13-3-2 overall and 6-2 in BIG EAST play, staying on top of the conference standings with one match remaining in the regular season.
After going into half time in a scoreless draw, Xavier struck first out of the break with Molly McLaughlin scoring from Hayley Jakovich to put Xavier up 1-0 in the 48th minute. DePaul answered in the 68th minute to send the match to the closing minutes in a 1-1 draw.
In the final minute, Allie Anderson set up Jenna Prathapa for the game-winner, setting the final score at 2-1.
48' | XAVIER | Hayley Jakovich served the ball into the box from the right side, forcing the DePaul keeper to the right side of the goal to try to make the fingertip save. The ball bounced of the crossbar to Molly McLaughlin on the left side of the net. McLaughlin finished low to put Xavier ahead, 1-0.
68' | DEPAUL | DU's Jessic Lazo got the ball on the right side of the net, drawing the Xavier keeper out to get the ball. Lazo used a header to find Jade Eriksen-Russo coming up the center of the field, with the ball trickling in to put the game in a 1-1 tie.
90' | XAVIER | Allie Anderson served the ball into the box, bringing the DU goalkeeper out to the collect the ball. The keeper went low to collect the ball and Jenna Prathapa tapped the ball over her and into the net for the 2-1 lead with less than 40 seconds remaining.

- Allie Anderson picked up a point on the helper on Prathapa's goal, her first point as a Musketeer.
- Xavier held a 12-5 advantage on shots, led by three for Samantha Dewey. Xavier also led 5-1 on corner kicks.
- Olivia Jenkins collected two saves with one goal against for her sixth win of the season.
- Grace Bahr, Hayley Jakovich and Grace Brauer played the full 90 minutes, helping liming the Blue Demons to just three shots on-frame.
- Xavier ends the regular season home schedule undefeated, going 6-0-1 at XU Soccer Complex.
- The Musketeers added another win to the BIG EAST best streak, bringing it to four.
- Xavier picked up its 13th win overall, the most since winning 14 in 2000.
- It's also the Musketeers sixth BIG EAST win, a new program best since joining the conference.
- With 18 points in the BIG EAST standings, also a program best since joining, Xavier remains in the top spot with one match remaining.
