  Summary |
• Despite falling behind 0-3 early, Xavier fought back to tie the score at 7 in Set One. The score would tie 10 more times and change hands four times throughout the set. This set the tone for a highly competitive match that ultimately went the distance. Besides the early advantage, neither team could muster more than a three-point lead, and Georgetown took the opening set 25-23.
• Set Two was just as tight, with 10 ties and five lead changes. At 7-6, the set was still up for grabs. Then, Xavier broke out a huge 6-0 run to gain a big edge, but Georgetown would later respond with a 7-0 run of their own to try and take back control. Xavier came back to tie the score at 19, and the race was on to take the two-point lead necessary to clinch Set Two. In the end, it took the Musketeers an extra point, but they won the set 26-24.
• The pivotal Set Three began in Georgetown's favor, as they held a two-point edge for most of the early-going. However, with the score tied at 9, Xavier went on a 5-1 run that would prove to be the turning point in the match. The Hoyas crept closer but never got to level the score, and Xavier finished by a score of 25-20.
• For a change of pace, Xavier began with the 2-0 edge, but once again, the teams found themselves tied at 10, 14, 15, 16 and 17. With Xavier leading 20-19, the Hoyas woke up and scored the final six points of the set to force the 15-point tiebreaker that is Set Five.
• With no room for error, Xavier went on a 4-0 run to break a 2-2 tie. The teams switched sides with the Musketeers holding an 8-3 lead, and that is as close as Georgetown would get. Xavier won the fifth set decidively by a score of 15-8 to clinch the match and theor second BIG EAST victory.
